Five years ago we posted an entry noting the anniversary of The Animal Council’s incorporation, this year – 21 years. The “baby” born that day has reached legal drinking age!
July 17 is also the anniversary of the arrival of a purchased sight-unseen puppy (in those early days of the Animal Welfare Act…), also noted in the 2007 entry. We mention again, because it has now been 45 years since Rottweiler Alex made his flight from O’Hare to SFO. In the photo, the envelope attached to his shipping crate containing various documents, information, etc. He weighed 55 pounds and did not want to come out of the crate. In those days, we all wore summer skirts, so a United employee got down on the ground, crawled into the crate and got the puppy out. Best advice on meeting a new Rottweiler, or dogs generally: let him come to you, and he’ll be all yours.
